FUNCTIONS of The UNIVERSITY
Assalamuaikum Wr. Wb.
I have already discussed two of the three concept frequently used to state the university's functions or their missions. Now we must turn to how they are administered from inside the university.
The functions are research, teaching and service, which assumes the university understands, will develop and makes use of these three key words and their mutual relation. This occurs in agreement with principles and philosophy governing the conduct of each university as it pursues its missions and aims.

In my mind research in universities is administered for various purposes:scientific development and politics of research and science; research areas and selection and maintenance of lines of research in university; technological research; and the student's development as a creative research.
i'm just to add the statement from john about research. some of these topics are related to the functions that each university assigns its departemens, institutes, and centres. However, technological research and the student's development require special consideration.
